About Us / Podcasts

The journey through cancer treatment can be one of the most challenging experiences a person can face. The emotional, physical, and psychological toll of a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, not only for the patients but also for their families.

One of the most significant ways the Support Group helps patients is by offering a safe space for emotional expression. Members share their experiences, fears, and triumphs, creating an environment where individuals feel understood and validated. As they share their stories and learn from others, this shared vulnerability fosters a sense of belonging, reminding patients that they are not alone in their struggles. The power of empathy within the group can alleviate feelings of isolation and despair, providing comfort during some of the darkest moments

Perhaps one of the most profound benefits of The Patient Cancer Support Group is the hope and inspiration it provides. Hearing stories of survival, resilience, and recovery from fellow members can install a sense of optimism in patients facing their own battles. Celebrating milestones, whether big or small, reinforces the idea that progress is possible, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Here is what the patients are saying:

THE NEW NATIONAL CANCER PLAN

A FACTUAL APPROACH AND NOT A PESSIMISTIC VIEW!!! A strongly welcome plan which makes illuminating reading and naturally major players came out and ready to support it. Some facts, however and bold statements on this if you wish to read the articles by two heavyweights, Cancer Research UK and The King’s Fund Charities. As a 12 year survivor and being heavily involved in this field, you bet I want it to succeed but this plan should not be about headline grabbing by the Department of Health and Social Care but delivering it as this is just the first step! As always, I remain hopeful and ready to play my role!!

A new Charity initiative and for us a learning curve in podcasting, as we bring you remarkable cancer journeys of hope, inspiration and optimism that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Christine walks us through her mouth cancer journey she’s been fighting for 23 years (and still going on) with endless treatment and a number of operations. Alan, her husband, has been by her side throughout her journey and we touch on his cancer too. They are both incredible, inspirational and caring human beings.

We suggest you DO NOT try to use subtitles or transcript and although these have been disabled they may at some point inexplicably come up, given they are substantially inaccurate in view of Christine’s speech impediment.
