“Surround yourself only with people who are going to lift you higher.”

The group was formed in 2018. It offers patients a safe and relaxed place to express their feelings, concerns and fears as well as having a chat with others in a similar situation. You will be assured of a very warm welcome.

For counselling, financial matters, complimentary therapies etc patients seek help through professional individuals, larger organisations and specialised charities. Signposting and suggestions are offered from patients’ personal experience.

If you are a carer, a close relative or bereaved that lost a loved one to cancer, please come along too. You will hear not only how others in a similar situation are coping, but also how patients are feeling

during their difficult time. We discuss current topics of common interest as well as how everyone is managing their own situation. We often have guest speakers too.

“People who said ‘I am here for you’ were some of the sweetest words I ever heard”

What to expect:

A warm welcome and a nice cuppa

The friendly and informal meetings offer Empathy and Emotional Support from everyone in the room. This is generated by patients themselves through their own experiences in order to help others. Peoples’ journeys are never the same and as a result a wealth of information is contributed for discussion as well as Knowledge.

The Patient Cancer Support Group is promoted by Macmillan Cancer Support, Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals, the social prescribers of Spelthorne, Runnymede and Elbridge Borough Councils, The Voluntary Support of North Surrey and many Practices. After years offering emotional and

practical support to cancer patients, carers, family and the bereaved that have lost loved ones to cancer, The Patient Cancer Support Group was granted charitable status by the Charities Commission in January 2024 acknowledging and endorsing its activities and objectives.
